  • What is EmergU?
    Emergu is a secure online platform with a network of licensed therapists to help those facing life's challenges by providing easy, no cost, and private access to professional counseling - Anytime, Anywhere, via a mobile phone, laptop, desktop, or tablet.
  • How can EmergU help me?
    EmergU consist of a network of licensed therapist who are trained and skilled in mental health, providing couseling in the areas: Anxiety Chronic Stress Depression PTSD Relationships among many other mental health conditions.
  • Are all EmergU Network of therapists licensed?
    Yes! Counselors on EmergU are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologist (PhD/PsyD), marriage & family therapist (LMFT), clinical social workers (LCSW/LMSW), or licensed professional counselors. All of them have a Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in their field. They have all been certified by their State's professional board.
  • How much does EmergU cost?
    There is NO COST to use EmergU services. The program was implemented to provide mental health access to uninsured and underinsured low wage workers and their families. For additional counseling support, please check with your employer to inquire about the EAP program. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is currently offering free and confidential counseling services for employees. If you have insurance that will cover your cost for Telehealth services, please contact your insurance company for affiliated providers.
  • Once I signed up, how long before I'm matched with a counselor?"
    Upon completion of our brief online assessment, you will be contacted within 24 to 48 hours. Please be advised, if you are experiencing an immediate life threatening crisis, or someone is in danger, please call 1-800-273-8255.
  • How often will my counselor respond to me?
    Depends on your Counselor. Please remember, therapist providing services on EmergU platform, also have multiple existing clients, families, responsibilities, etc. (just like you and me). Your counselor will let you know of his or her availablity, and will schedule times that works best for the both of you.
  • How will I communicate with my counselor?
    You can communicate with your counselor on the platform in 3 different ways: Exchanging messaging with your counselor Speaking over the phone via audio with your counselor Video Conferencing with your counselor
  • How long can I receive counseling on EmergU?
    You may receive a total of 3 sessions at NO COST. Each session will last between 30-45 minutes. Upon completion of your first 3 sessions with your counselor, you may opt to continue with that counselor, however the service will be at their customary cost.
  • Does EmergU offer couple counseling?
    Yes! With couples counseling you and your spouse will share the same counselor. You and your spouse will be assigned to a shared private room at your appointment time, to communicate your experiences with your counselor.
  • What is the role of EmergU?
    EmergU role is to provide a telehealth platform of connectivity between independent providers and the client. These providers are not employees of EmergU and the site doesnt oversee them professionally. However, every independent provider certification is verify through State health departments.
  • How do I get started with EmergU?
    Just click on the "Get Started Button" on the homepage or at the bottom of this page.
  • I'm a licensed counselor. How can I provide services using EmergU?
    Click on Provider (on the menu bar) to get started.
  • How do I check-in to my appointment
    Your counselor will send you a link to initate your scheduled appointment. See video for addtional details

  • How do I message my counselor?
    Once you are matched with a counselor, you and your counselor will have a dedicated private & secure "virtual room" to communicate. You can exchange messages with your counselor at anytime, from anywhere, using any internet-connected device. Messaging does not require a scheduled appointment. You can send a message or respond to your counselor's message at your convenience. You will get an email notification when your counselor sends you a message.
  • How do I video chat with my counselor
    To have a live video chat session, your counselor will first schedule an appointment or discuss via messaging or audio chat the best time for the both of you to have a video chat session. At the scheduled time, you will click on the link that you're counselor sent you. It will look something like this (
  • How will I do a live phone session with my counselor
    To talk with your counselor over the phone, you will need to schedule a time with your counselor. Your counselor will send you a text notification. Just click on the link in your text browser to begin call.
  • What if I'm unhappy with my Counselor?

  • What are the requirements to be Counselor with EmergU?
    You must be licensed by a State Board to provide couseling services with EmergU. (e.g. LCSW, LMFT, LPC, PsyD, or similiar credentials.) You are also required to have experience in counseling Adults, Couples, and/or Teens; have reliable internet connection; excellent writing skills; and currently residing in the U.S.
  • How much do Emergu Program pay?
    Counselor jobs at EmergU pays up to $50 per session.
